Welcome to Jillicious Discoveries!

A little bit about me...

I'm Jill of Jillicious Discoveries and my blog was created to share the insights, tips and experiences that I've discovered (and continue to discover) along my culinary journey in baking and business.  I'm also a pastry chef and owner of Jillicious Desserts, my dessert business which I started almost three years ago. 

Although I have been baking most of my life, I didn't make it into a full-time career until 2005.  Prior to this decision, I had been in retail management.  Over time I realized that although I enjoyed my career, I didn't have a passion for it.  So, I changed career paths, and decided to attend the California Culinary Academy in San Franscio, California and start a new adventure in baking and pastry arts. 

After graduation, I continued to work in the Bay Area at a Japanese-European style bakery.  I also worked with a wonderful mentor chef, who I met while in culinary school, and he provided me with additional training and the opportunity to learn more advanced techniques.   Between my business experience in management and my baking skills, I decided it was time to start my own business, where I could pursue a wonderful creative outlet. 

I currently reside in Kings Valley, Oregon; where I moved back home (the same area where I grew up) and I now work out of my domestic licensed kitchen creating desserts for Jillicious Desserts.  I specialize in high-end quality desserts; cakes, cheesecakes, cupcakes, cookies, and wedding cakes.  I love every aspect of baking desserts, but the best part is seeing the excitement on a client's face when they see their dessert for the first time.
